Last weekend I had the privilege of travelling with the Luke Combs UK band around Ireland, North and south warming up the crowds that attended their gigs. From as far north as Derry/Londonderry to the hustle and bustle of Ireland’s capital; Dublin.

We all had one thing in common, and that was the love of American Country Music. Over the weekend, Post Malone dropped his country collab with Morgan Wallen which turned out to be my most requested song of the tour. Coincidently, Morgan who over the same time announced a European tour taking in two nights in, you guessed it…Dublin which created a lot of hype.

The band were relentless in their pursuit of perfection spending huge amounts of time in sound checks making sure everything was sounding up to scratch. They’re a bunch of very talented guys and Liam (aka Mr Luke Combs) has put a lot of effort into not just the sounds and the twang of the songs, but the appearance, the dress code, the body language and just about anything else Luke Combs related.

A number of years back I had the privilege of photographing Luke at C2C and also for this tribute tour, I not only found myself behind the decks, but also the lens, giving me the ability to compare two very close shots. You tell me who is the real thing, and who is the tribute act.

All in all it was a fun packed five days on the road with the guys who were as down to earth as it gets. Very much an enjoyable experience and we’re going to do it all over again in June taking in, Cork, Armagh and Strabane.
